Average Speed
The average speed can be calculated as the total distance traveled by the total time taken to do so:

The total distance is the sum of the individual distances traveled at different speeds for different times.
Distance 1: 2 hours at 80 km/h
![x_1=2\cdot80=160\text{ }\operatorname{km}]()
Distance 2: 3 hours at 70 km/h

The total distance is: x = 160 km + 210 km = 370 km
The total time is t = 2 h + 3 h = 5 h
Now calculate the average speed:
![\begin{gathered} \bar{v}=(370)/(5) \\ \bar{v}=74\text{ }\frac{\operatorname{km}}{h} \end{gathered}]()
The average speed was 74 km/h
