Bella rode an exercise bike at a constant speed.After 12 minutes, she had ridden 2 miles. After36 minutes, she had ridden 6 miles. Which ofthe following equations shows the relationshipbetween the distance, d miles, and the time,1 minutes, Bella had ridden?A. d=41B. d=61C. t=6dD. t= 120E. t=24d

The speed is given by:

v=(d)/(t)

in this case we know that in 12 minutes Bella rode 2 miles, then:

\begin{gathered} v=(2)/(12) \\ v=(1)/(6) \end{gathered}

This means that quotient between the distance and the time has to be 1/6, hence:

\begin{gathered} (d)/(t)=(1)/(6) \\ t=6d \end{gathered}

Therefore the relationship between the distance and time is:

t=6d

and the answer is C
