Solution:

Given:

\begin{gathered} Total\text{ dismissed}=8 \\ \\ \\ Over\text{ 50}=6 \\ Under\text{ 50}=18 \\ Total\text{ employees}=24 \end{gathered}

If the dismissed employees were selected at random what is the probability that exactly 6 employees were over 50 will be;

\begin{gathered} (^6C_6*^(18)C_2)/(^(24)C_8)=(1*153)/(735471) \\ =(153)/(735471) \\ =(1)/(4807) \end{gathered}

Therefore, the probability that exactly 6 employees were over 50 will be;

(1)/(4807)
