Let the width be x cm.

Since the length is twice the width, therefore, its length is 2x cm.

The area of the rectangle is

2x^2cm^2

Accordingly,

\begin{gathered} 2x^2=50 \\ x^2=25 \\ x=\pm5 \end{gathered}

Since width of the rectangle can't be negative,

therefore, its width is 5 cm and length is 10 cm.
