we have

WV = 5x -- 5

WY = 20

and WV = 1/2 WY

So

\begin{gathered} WV=(1)/(2)WY \\ 5x-5=(1)/(2)(20) \\ 5x-5=10 \\ 5x-5+5=10+5 \\ 5x=15 \\ (5x)/(5)=(15)/(5) \\ x=3 \end{gathered}

answer: x = 3
