A 50-Inch television measures 50 Inches diagonally and has a width of 40 inches. A 30-inch television measures 30 inches diagonally and has a width of 18 Inches. How much taller is the 50-inch television than the 30-inch television?

step 1

Find the height of 50 in TV

applying Pythagorean Theorem

50^2=40^2+h^2

h^2=50^2-40^2

h^2=900

h=30 in

step 2

Find the height of 30 in tv

applying Pythagorean Theorem

30^2=18^2+h^2

h^2=30^2-18^2

h^2=576

h=24 in

step 3

Find the difference

30-24=6 in

answer is 6 inches
