We must substract 3 1/6 of 4 2/3. However, we must convert these fractions in

mixed form to simple fraction:

3(1)/(6)=(6\cdot3+1)/(6)=(19)/(6)

and

4(2)/(3)=(3\cdot4+2)/(3)=(14)/(3)

hence,

4(2)/(3)-3(1)/(6)=(14)/(3)-(19)/(6)

therefore,

\begin{gathered} (14)/(3)-(19)/(6)=(6\cdot14-3\cdot19)/(3\cdot6) \\ (14)/(3)-(19)/(6)=(84-57)/(18) \\ (14)/(3)-(19)/(6)=(27)/(18) \\ (14)/(3)-(19)/(6)=(3)/(2) \end{gathered}

Maria has 3/2=1.5 left over
