Would you expect a C1- ion to be larger or smaller than an Mg2+ ion? Explain.

To know which one is larger or smaller depends on the number of electrons. Given that C 1- ion has more electrons it would be larger than the Mg 2+ ion.

Now, the Bohr model tells us that the electrons orbiting around the nucleus require a certain amount of energy to move from one orbit to another. But, also, this model tells us that the electrons are orbiting around the nucleus with expelling energy unless we change the orbit.
