The value of the x-intercept is 12 while the value of the y-intercept is 6

Here, we want to get the value of the x and y intercepts

The value of the x-intercept can be obtained by setting the y-value to 0 and solving for x

The value of the y-intercept can be obtained by setting the x-value to 0 and solving for y

We can get both values as follows;

a) x-intercept

\begin{gathered} \text{set y = 0} \\ -x-2(0)\text{ = -12} \\ -x-0\text{ = -12} \\ -x\text{ = -12} \\ x\text{ = 12} \end{gathered}

b) y-intercept

\begin{gathered} \text{set x = 0} \\ -0-2y\text{ = -12} \\ -2y\text{ = -12} \\ y\text{ = }(-12)/(-2) \\ y\text{ = 6} \end{gathered}
