Consider variable x as the time in hours Emma takes to clean her window and variable y as time Emma takes to clean the car.

If she has at most 2 hours, then, you have the following inequality:

x + y < 2

If now consider t as time, in hours, she spends in the two tasks, you have:

t < 2

The graph of the previous inequality on a number line is:

Where on the number line you have the number of hours. The square parenthesis are the limits of the available time Allison has to complete the tasks. From 0 hours to maximum 2 hours. The red line makes explicit such time interval.
