There was a discount of 24% on the TV price

1) Gathering the data

$1050 (regular price

$798

2) So let's find the discount given by setting this equation. Setting a relationship between the prior price, and the discounted one

1050x=798 Divide both sides by 1050

x=0.76

If $1050 was multiplied by 0.76 to get $798 then

Let's pick 1 (for 100%) and subtract 0.76 = 1 -0.76 = 0.24

So there was a discount of 24%

Alternatively let's pick 1050 - 1050(0.24) and we'll get 798
