The component form is given as < x, y > while the magnitude of a component vector

is given as:

|v|=\sqrt[]{x^2+y^2}

The magnitude of the vector (5, -12) will be:

\begin{gathered} |v|=\sqrt[]{(-5)^2+12^2} \\ |v|=\sqrt[]{25+144} \\ |v|=\sqrt[]{169} \\ |v|=13 \end{gathered}

Hence, the correct option is option B
