Explanation:

Since the growth is exponential, we can set the following function for the snail population, just like this:


\begin{gathered} p=175\cdot(1+12\%)^t \\ p=175\cdot(1+0.12)^t \\ p=175\cdot(1.12)^t \end{gathered}

Where t is the time that could elapse, in this case we are told that in 10 years, therefore the value of t is equal to 10, we replacing and we calculate the new population:


\begin{gathered} p=175\cdot(1.12)^(10) \\ p=543.52 \\ p\cong544\text{ snails} \end{gathered}
