Tickets were sold for a program at a college .It cost $4 for general admission or $3 with a student ID.

Let

number of people that used student ID = x

number of people that used the general admission cost = y

x\text{ + y = 181}
3x\text{ + 4y = 616}
\begin{gathered} x+y\text{ = 181} \\ 3x+4y=616 \\ x=181-y \\ 3(181-y)+4y\text{ = 616} \\ 543-3y+4y=616 \\ y=616-543 \\ y=73 \\ x+73=181 \\ x=181-73 \\ x=108 \end{gathered}

108 used the student ID ticket while 73 used the general admission ticket .
