Please answer the following questions correctly. If the question isn’t clear.. it states:*13-ft ladder leans against the side of a house. The bottom of the ladder is 8 ft from the side of thehouse. How high is the top of the ladder from the ground? If necessary, round your answer to thenearest tenth.*

SOLUTION;

We shall use Pythagoras' Theorem to solve this question;


\begin{gathered} a^2+b^2=c^2 \\ rewritten\text{ }as \\ a^2=c^2-b^2 \end{gathered}

Here, a = ? , b = 8ft and c = 13ft;

Therefore,


\begin{gathered} a^2=13^2-8^2 \\ a^2=169-64 \\ a^2=105 \\ a=10.3ft \end{gathered}

Thus, the top of the ladder is 10.3 feet above the ground.
