This can't be continous because we can't figure out how many people are registered with a certain political party.

It is like tracking how many push ups you can do. You can only do a certain amount and it varies. One day you can do 10 another 6 and another day 12. It is easier to make a chart of the people in a political party than to make a graph so that eliminates A and C.

And it can't be B because it is describing continuous data so it has to be D.

Answer:

D. The data are discrete because the data can only take on specific values.
