Mr. Blandon, an 84-year old man, has been admitted to the hospital with acute decompensated heart failure. Over the past week, he has experienced increased fatigue and shortness of breath. He has been transferred to your care from the emergency department where he received 100 mg of furosemide IV. He is currently receiving oxygen at 3 L/min. When you assess him, he sitting up in bed at a 60 degree angle. His respiratory rate is 34/min, and oxygen saturation is 85% . He has 4 pitting edema in his lower extremities up to his calves. He has noticable jugular vein distension. What action should you take first?
