For this case we have the following problem given: |v-5|+7=21

And we want to solve for the value of v. On this case we just need to do the following procedure. First we can start subtracting 7 from both sides of the equation and we got:

\left|v-5\right|=14

Then since we have an absolute value we have two possible solutions:

First one:

v-5=-14\rightarrow v=-9

Second one:

v-5=14\rightarrow v=19

And then the solution for this case would be

v= -9 or v=19
