8.) The traffic Department counted the number of cars that went through a red light at a certain intersection during a 2-week period. The total number of cars that went through the intersection during this period was 3,120. The number of cars that went through the red light was 540. What is the empirical probability that a car going through the intersection will run the red light?

the total number of cars that went through the intersection during this period is 3,120

favourable condition is 540 cars went through the red light

so the empirical probability that a car going through the intersection will run the red light is,

=(540)/(3120)
=0.173

thus the answer is 0.173
