SOLUTION

Step1:Write out the formula

\frac{\text{portion}}{base}=\frac{rate\text{ }}{100}

Step2; write out the parameters

\begin{gathered} portion=50 \\ \text{Base}=244 \end{gathered}

Step3: Substitute into the formula and simplify

(50)/(244)=(rate)/(100)

Step4: simplify the expression above

\begin{gathered} \text{ Multiply both side by 244} \\ \text{rate}*244=100*50 \\ \text{then} \\ \text{ Rate=}(100*50)/(244) \end{gathered}

Then the rate becomes

20.49\text{ }

Therefore the rate is 20.49
