Given that,

Two trains leave stations 396 miles apart at the same time and travel toward each other.

One train travels at 100 miles per hour while the other travels at 80 miles per hour.

To find the time taken for the two train to meet.

Speed of train A =100 milea per hour

Speed of train B=80 miles per hour

They are travelling towards each other.

Relative speed= Speed of train A+Speed of train B


\begin{gathered} =100+80 \\ =180 \end{gathered}

Relative speed is 180 miles per hour.

Distance= 396 miles.

Time taken=distance/time taken

we get,

Time taken is,


=(396)/(180)
=2.2\text{ hours}
