we have

$(1)/(2)\colon(1)/(8)$

Multiply in cross

$(1\cdot8)/(2\cdot1)=(8)/(2)=4$

that means

there 4 times 1/8 in 1/2

1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8=1/2
