In tv shows, there are many scenes in which the object is either falling vertically downward or falling in the projectile motion.
In the case of vertically downward motion or in other words free-fall motion, the only force acting on the object is the force of gravity.

The vertical or the horizontal component of the initial velocity is zero and when the object hits the ground, it hits with a loud noise due to the very large final velocity.
This velocity is due to the acceleration of the object while falling down under gravity.
