We have the following equation

2x-5=(1)/(3)x

These are some possible steps to solve it:

#1. Substract 2x from both sides

2x-5-2x=(1)/(3)x-2x

#2. Simplify

\begin{gathered} -5=((1)/(3)-2)x \\ -5=((1)/(3)-(6)/(3))x \\ -5=-(5)/(3)x \end{gathered}

#3. multiply both sides by 3

3\mleft(-(5)/(3)x\mright)=3\mleft(-5\mright)

#4. Simplify

-5x=-15

#5. Divide both sides by -5

(-5x)/(-5)=(-15)/(-5)

#6. Simplify

x=3

So, we can see from the set of steps above, that the 4th option is the correct one!
