The rule of the area of the rectangle is

A=b* h

b is the length of the rectangle

h is the width of the rectangle

Since h = 8 ft

Since A = 144 ft^2

Then substitute them in the rule above to find b

\begin{gathered} 144=b*8 \\ 144=8b \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 8

\begin{gathered} (144)/(8)=(8b)/(8) \\ 18=b \end{gathered}

The length of the rectangle is 18 feet

The rule of the perimeter of the rectangle is

P=2(b+h)

Substitute b by 18 ft and h by 8 feet

\begin{gathered} P=2(18+8) \\ P=2(26) \\ P=52\text{ feet} \end{gathered}

The perimeter of the rectangle is 52 feet------- (16 + 36) ft
