1) Three consecutive odd numbers can be represented as

n +n+2 +n+4

2) So we can write the following since their sum is 711

n +n+2 +n+4 = 711 Combine like terms

3n+6=711 subtract 8from both sides

3n= 705

n=235

Let's plug into the formula 2n +1 to find the first locker:

So the first locker is 235
