The phrase "two more than the product of y and four" can be analysed in two separate parts.

First, lets take a look on the meaning of the phrase "The product of y and four". This is equivalent to "four times y" or, mathematically, "4*y"

Since we already understand the meaning of the last part of the phrase, we can take a look on the meaning of "two more than". This is equivalent to "two units greater than", or, mathematically, "2 +".

Therefore, the phrase "two more than the product of y and four" can be rewritten as 2 + 4y (notice that we can also write as 4y + 2)
