Use the formula Distance = rate ⋅ time. If Renee drives 120 miles at a constant speed of 60 mph, how long will it take? (Be sure to include units.)

Dividing the given formula by the rate we get:


\begin{gathered} \frac{\text{Distance}}{rate}=(rate\cdot time)/(rate), \\ \frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{rate}}=\text{time.} \end{gathered}

Substituting Distance=120mile and rate=60miles/h we get:


\text{time}=(120mi)/(60(mi)/(h))=(120h)/(60)=2h

Answer: 2h.
