A reflection is a transformation that flips a figure across a line.

Properties of reflection:

• The length remains the same, the angles remain the same.

• This means that the image and the pre-image have the same size and shape only the orientation changes.

• The line segment which connects the corresponding parts of the image and pre-image is perpendicular to the line of reflection.

• The distance from the line of reflection of the corresponding parts of the image and pre-image is the same.

This is called a horizontal reflection since the image and the pre-image is flipped across the x-axis. The line of reflection is the vertical line.
