Juan is designing an exercise room in his house.

a) How many square feet of rubber flooring will he need to cover the floor?

A = 9 X 3 = 27

B= 4 X7 = 28

Number of square feet of rubber flooring will he need to cover the floor = 27 + 28

= 45 square feet

b) How many square yards should he buy?

45 square feet = 5 square yards

The total area of the exercise room is 118 sq. ft.

This is also the total amount of rubber flooring that Juan must have 118/ 5 = 23.6 = 24 .

c ) The number of square yards equivalent to this total area is (Round to the nearest tenth as needed.)

45 square feet = 5 square yards

24 square feet = ( 24 x 5 ) / 45 = 120 /45 = 2.67 square yards.
