The value of the stock on Friday is $53.87

Here, we want to calculate the value of the stock on friday

The value at the week start is $42

Increasing by 35%, we have;

\begin{gathered} 42\text{ + (35\% of 42)} \\ \\ =\text{ 42 + (0.35 }*\text{ 42)} \\ \\ =\text{ 42 + 14.7} \\ \\ =\text{ \$56.7} \end{gathered}

Decreasing by 5%, we have;

\begin{gathered} 56.7-(5\text{ percent of 56.7)} \\ \\ 56.7-(0.05*56.7) \\ \\ 56.7-2.835 \\ \\ =\text{ 53.865} \end{gathered}
