Data:

Total number of shirts: 40

Children sized: 2/5 of 40

To find the number of shirts that are adult sized:

As 2/5 of the shirts are children sized substract it from the total number of shirts to find the number of adult shirts (X):

2/5 is equal to multiply 40 by 2/5, then you have the next equation:

x=40-40((2)/(5))

Evaluate and solve for x:

\begin{gathered} x=40-(80)/(5) \\ \\ x=40-16 \\ \\ x=24 \end{gathered}Then, there are 24 adult sized shirts in the order
