Given:

cost of gas = $0.78/litre

For each 27 miles Trent's car travels, it would need a gallon

Distance covered = 825 miles

The number of gallons of gas needed to travel 825 miles:

\begin{gathered} =\text{ }\frac{825\text{ miles}}{27\text{ miles/gallon}} \\ =\text{ }30.56\text{ gallon} \end{gathered}

Recall that :

1\text{ litre = 0.264 gallon}

Hence the volume of gas required in liters:

\begin{gathered} =\text{ 30.56 gallon }*\frac{1\text{ litre}}{0.264\text{ gallon}} \\ =\text{ }115.76\text{ litre} \end{gathered}

The amount of US dollars is thus:

\begin{gathered} =\text{ 115.76 litres }*\frac{\text{ \$0.78}}{litre}\text{ } \\ =\text{ \$ 90.29} \\ \approx\text{ \$ 90} \end{gathered}

It would cost Trent $90 to drive 825 miles
