We have the functions:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=2x+5 \\ g(x)=2x+3 \end{gathered}

And we want to know an expression for:

(f+g)(x)

For doing so, we remember that:

(f+g)(x)=f(x)+g(x)

And thus, replacing we obtain:

\begin{gathered} (f+g)(x) \\ =f(x)+g(x) \\ =(2x+5)+(2x+3) \\ =4x+8 \end{gathered}

This means that (f+g)(x)=4x+8.
