We can compute the mean by;


\operatorname{mean}=(47+42+44+45+43+45+48+46)/(8)=45

and the standard deviation by;


\frac{\sum ^{}_{}(x-\operatorname{mean})^2}{\sum ^{}_{}f}=(28)/(8)=3.5

So the mean of the data set is 45.

The standard deviation is 3.5
