Hearing is the act of perceiving sound and receiving sound waves or vibrations through your ear.

Listening is the act of hearing a sound and understanding what you hear. Listening Requires concentration so that your brain processes meaning from words and sentences.

They both are nearly the same thing but in my opinion hearing is triggered mostly by evolutionary instinct and state of mind and listening is more of to answer our curiosity.

Hope this helped!!

Hear means that sounds come into your ears whether you want it or not, while listen means that you consciously pay attention to what you hear, that is you want to hear something: ... ā€“ I'm listening, but I can't hear anything. ā€“

listen means that you consciously pay attention to what you hear.
