Concept:

The rate of change will be calculated using the formula below


\begin{gathered} \text{rate of change =}\frac{change\text{ in y}}{\text{change in x}} \\ \text{rate of change}=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \end{gathered}

By substituting the values, we will have


\begin{gathered} \text{rate of change}=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \\ \text{rate of change}=\frac{_{}0-4_{}}{-2_{}-2_{}} \\ \text{rate of change}=(-4)/(-4) \\ \text{rate of change}=1 \end{gathered}
