total length = 6 ft

length of the piece = 1/3


\text{Number of pieces = 6 / }(1)/(3)\text{ = }((6)/(1))/((1)/(3))\text{ = }\frac{6x\text{ 3}}{1\text{ x 1}}=\text{ }(18)/(1)\text{ = 18}

There will be 18 pieces
