ANSWER:

p = -5

Explanation:

We have that the form of the equation of the parabola is the following:

(y-k)^2=4p\cdot(x-h)

In this case we have the following equation, we convert it into its correct form, just like this:

\begin{gathered} \mleft(x-8\mright)=-(1)/(20)\cdot\mleft(y+2\mright)^2 \\ (y+2)^2=-20\cdot(x-8) \end{gathered}

We compare and calculate the value of p, just like this:

\begin{gathered} 4p=-20 \\ p=-(20)/(4) \\ p=-5 \end{gathered}
