SOLUTION

We want to find the derivative of

y=sin(1.2t-3.7)

(a) So, using chain rule, the inside function is u,

we have the inside:

u=1.2t-3.7

outside becomes

y=sin(u)

(b) The derivative of

inside, we have

(du)/(dt)=1.2

derivative of the outside, we have

(dy)/(du)=cos(u)

chain rule we have

\begin{gathered} (dy)/(dt)=(dy)/(du)*(du)/(dt) \\ =cos(u)*1.2 \\ =cos(1.2t-3.7)*1.2 \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is

(dy)/(dt)=1.2cos(1.2t-3.7)
