Find the value of M and YZ if Y is between X and Z. XY = 5m YZ =m, and X2 = 25

Notice that XZ = XY + YZ

where XY = 5m

YZ = m and XZ =25

Thus,

25 = 5m + m

25 = 6m

Hence,


m\text{ = }(25)/(6)\text{ = 4}(1)/(6)\text{ }

But YZ = m

Therefore, YZ =


4(1)/(6)
