hello

to solve for k, we'll do it in a stepwise manner

step 1

collect like terms

\begin{gathered} -(6)/(5)k-(3)/(4)=-2+(1)/(7)k \\ -(3)/(4)+2=(1)/(7)k+(6)/(5)k \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} -(3)/(4)+2=(1)/(7)k+(6)/(5)k \\ \text{take LCM} \\ -(3+8)/(4)=(5+42)/(35)k \\ (5)/(4)=(47)/(35)k \end{gathered}

step 2 above was to take LCM

step 3

cross multiply both sides and solve for k

\begin{gathered} (5)/(4)=(47)/(35)k \\ 4*47=(5*35)k \\ 188=175k \\ k=(188)/(175) \\ k=1.074 \end{gathered}
