Let us represent the number as x:

16 is added to a number is represented as:

16+x

The result been 35 less than twice the number is represented as:

2x-35

Combining the above expression together to find the number will be:

16+x=2x-35

Simplifying further:

\begin{gathered} 16+35=2x-x \\ 51=x \\ \end{gathered}

The number, therefore, is 51
