To calculate (g+j)(x) we need the function:

\begin{gathered} g(x)=-x^2+2x-5 \\ j(x)=6x^2-8x \end{gathered}

and we can made the addition so:

\begin{gathered} (g+j)(x)=g(x)+j(x) \\ (g+j)(x)=-x^2+2x-5+6x^2-8x \end{gathered}

and we can simplify

(g+j)(x)=5x^2-6x-5
