Slope of a line

We know the equation of a line is given by:

y=mx+b

where m is its slope and b its interpcetion with y - axis.

We know the slope equation is

\begin{gathered} m=(\Delta y)/(\Delta x) \\ =(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \end{gathered}

If (x₁, y₁) = (-2, -9) and (x, y) = (2, 11) then replacing in the slope equation

\begin{gathered} m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1) \\ =(11-(-9))/(2-(-2)) \\ =(11+9)/(2+2) \\ =(20)/(4)=5 \end{gathered}

Answer: the slope of the line is 5
