The ratio of the perimeters of two similar shapes is equal to the ratio of their corresponding sides, then, by taking the top sides of these figures we can express the following ratio

18 : 24

by dividing both numbers by 2, we get:

9 : 12

Dividing by 3:

3 : 4

Then the ratio of their perimeters equals 3 : 4
