to solve this, question, we would have to convert the percentage to fractions or decimals.

Let x represent the numbers of employees the had a year ago

\begin{gathered} (29)/(100)* x=355 \\ 0.29x=355 \\ \text{divide both sides by the coefficient of x} \\ (0.29x)/(0.29)=(355)/(0.29) \\ x=1224.127 \\ x\approx1224 \end{gathered}

a year ago, the company had 1224 empolyees
