The equation for finding the length between two points is:

l\text{ = }\sqrt[]{(y_2-y_1)^2+(x_2-x_1)^2}

where point 1 has coordinates (x1, y1) and point 2 has coordinates (x2, y2).

We assign A to be point 1 and B be point 2

Therefore,

\begin{gathered} l\text{ = }\sqrt[]{(0_{}-5_{})^2+(5_{}-(-2)_{})^2} \\ l\text{ = }\sqrt[]{(-5)_{}^2+(7_{})^2} \\ l\text{ = }\sqrt[]{25+49^{}} \\ l\text{ =}\sqrt{\text{74}} \end{gathered}
