y = -1/2

multiply 1st equation by 2 to get common coefficient

6x + 4y = 10

2x + 4y = 2

‐-------------- subtract equation

4x = 8

x = 2

substitute

3×2 + 2y = 5

6 + 2y = 5

2y = -1

y = -1/2
