If the Thymus gland shrank, and stopped producing thymosin, what would happen is that we would loose a few of our "T" cells, which are detrimental to the immune system. Eventually, we can end up with too few T cells to protect ourselves – this is called immunodeficiency – or we can produce T cells that attack our own body – which is called autoimmunity.
